"Folksmusik" out NOW!
Jazz trumpeter Benny Troschel’s versatile and compassionate expression through jazz has led him to a series of remarkable achievements in his still young career. Performances at the United Nations Headquarters NYC, for German Foreign Minister Steinmeier (together with Till Broenner) or in the world-renowned Jazz@Lincoln Center as lead trumpet player of the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Ensemble (starring jazz-greats such as Jon Faddis, Sean Jones, Philip Dizack, New York Voices, Victor Goines, etc.) speak for themselves. Although he is mainly passionate about straight-ahead jazz, he also finds himself at home in an array of different genres including Latin, Funk and even classical music, having toured with the renowned Philharmonia of Nations.
Together with his own bands, Troschel appeared at the famous Beethovenfestival Bonn, Umbria Jazz Festival, Wartburg Festival and live television as well as radio broadcasts. In his bands and through his original compositions, Benny creates moments of great depths as well as fireworks of swing, offering a broad palette of emotional diversity.
International tours with bands such as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany (BuJazzO) and the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Ensemble have enabled him to bring his swinging endeavors to Brazil, Ecuador, Russia, China, Iceland, Italy, England and Ireland.
His recent awards include 1st prize of “Jugend Musiziert“ (German National Classical Music Competition), soloist prize of “Jugend Jazzt“ (German National Jazz Competition) as well as being youngest finalist of the prestigeous Yamaha European Trumpet Contest.
Having graduated at Manhattan School of Music (teachers: Scott Wendholt, Jim McNeely), Benny is based both in New York as well as Germany.
